Sometimes during the summer season, I find that I do not get to post things I have done often enough.  Enjoying the summer warmth but preparing for the upcoming winter. Chores and repairs, the prepping of firewood, haying, gardens and all sorts of things take precedence over the blog.  Anyway, here are some “last winter” attempts I call “The Ghosts”…

Lately, with the transition, the creative juices have been dryer than the South Dakota drought of 2012.  Whereas, the drought destroyed thousands of tons of needed crops, the drought I am experiencing is personal and affects no one.  I still find time to sit in front of the woodstove and manipulation photos.  Adding words to these attempts at creativity leaves much to be desired though.  The other possible reason for not posting as much as I used to is that a friend of a friend crafted for a very nice flute.  I have several of these instruments, one by an artist named Laughing Crow, one of oak by an unknown artist, one I hacked together and now this new addition.  I have always wanted to play an instrument well enough to entertain friends and family.  So now that I am with limited internet access, the closet neighbor being over the next ridge and a well craft flute, I have been spending much time practicing.  I think I am getting better.  When I first played, it reminded me of a dying bird…actually, that would not be accurate…a flock of dying birds.  Now, I can play several songs that with imagination, can be recognized.  I also downloaded a “sound studio” where I can record and manipulate (there’s that work again”) the music and make it sound like someone else is playing it.  Take out a bit of noise, add a little echo and voila, something that sounds pretty damned…..OK.  Being I can not insert the audio, I chose a couple of recent photos I hacked together.  Peace….

The first move on the chess board of life has been completed and now it is time to mentally and spiritually prepare for the next step.  I will be off grid for the next week so I thought I would share my continuing experiments in photo manipulation…I bid you good night

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
